The BCAM media team (Victoria Clements, Tobyn Burton, Greg Allison, Greg Duerksen, Heath Moffat, Warwick Patterson, and David Malysheff) had the honour of documenting the historic return of the Hawaii Martin MARS – Coulson Flying Tankers to its mooring buoy on Sproat Lake.

Eight years since its last flight, this local hero began taking steps toward its final journey home. first to Patricia Bay and then overland to its new home at the BC Aviation Museum in Sidney.

Coulson Aviation – Next Gen Firefighting has done and incredible job maintaining and preserving both the Hawaii Mars and the Philippine Mars. These iconic aircraft are destined be displayed and cherished at the BC Aviation Museum and the Pima Air and Space Museum respectively.

Grateful to have been invited onsite to capture the excitement, they witnessed the dedicated and hardworking crew on the morning of July 8th as they launched the Hawaii Mars., removed the beaching gear and wing spoilers and prepared her for the upcoming weeks of taxi testing and crew training. All these events lead up to her anticipated flight in mid-August.
Pilot Peter Killin, we ar e looking forward to seeing you bring this girl home!

Thankful for the small army of dedicated BCAM staff and volunteers that have rallied behind Mars Team L Richard Mosdell to make this a reality, it’s going to be an amazing summer!

Love watching aviation history come back to life!
